Help Keep Our Roots Alive

Every folk song forgotten is a thread lost from who we are. Swariti exists to make sure that never happens.

Every song we save is a gift to someone who hasn't been born yet.

Traditions

Generations ago, songs were how we passed down wisdom — lullabies that carried a mother's love, kirtans that carried devotion, folk ballads that carried the memory of places and people long gone. They were never written down. They lived in voices, in gatherings, in the air of villages and temples.

Today, those voices are fading. The grandmothers who knew every verse of a Kumaoni holi song are fewer every year. The Sanskrit shlokas sung at dawn in Bengal are heard by fewer ears each generation. Without a place to preserve them, these songs simply disappear — not with a crash, but with a silence.

Swariti is our answer to that silence.

We are building a living archive — not a dusty database, but a living, searchable, translatable collection of folk songs, kirtans, poems and oral traditions from across India and the world. With original lyrics, Hindi transliterations, English meanings, historical context and cultural notes — so that anyone, anywhere, can connect with these songs as they were meant to be felt.

Growing Archive

Why Support Swariti?

Swariti is an independent cultural preservation initiative dedicated to preserving traditional songs and oral heritage. We are not a company. There are no investors. There is no advertising revenue.

Swariti will always remain free. Culture belongs to everyone. Your contribution ensures future generations can still discover these songs — and that we can keep building toward our goal of 1,000 and then 10,000 entries from every language, every village, every generation.

We are not asking you to subscribe to anything or sign up for a plan. Contribute what feels right — Rs. 50 (~$0.50), Rs. 200 (~$2.50), Rs. 1000 (~$12) — so we can keep the archive growing.

What Your Support Preserves

Rs. 99 (~$1) helps preserve one traditional song — researched, translated, and documented for the archive

Rs. 299 (~$3.50) helps document three cultural traditions with original lyrics, historical context, and cover art

Rs. 999 (~$12) supports one full week of cultural preservation — research, review, enrichment, and publication

Any amount tells us this matters to you — and that is what keeps the archive alive

Our Vision

Our goal is to preserve 100,000 traditional songs from every language, every village, and every generation — making Swariti the world's most trusted archive of folk songs and oral heritage. Free to read, forever.

Every song we save is a gift to someone who hasn't been born yet.
